This project was to design a Library/studio area for a scholar.  The site was located on a forested hill in Fairmount park behind Mt. Pleasant mansion.  The solution designed for this project was a stilted platform, to reduce the impact on the ground to surrounding trees, with a circular designed building. A single tree was used as a focal point for the front of the building.  A mostly glazed facade created an indoor/outdoor connection and a brick wall, mimicking the brick of the mansion, on the northern face protected against winds and northern exposure.
